Friend Dates

I have a friend that I have known since I was about 12. We shared a backyard fence and I started babysitting her baby when he was 2 weeks old. He is now in college! Tonight Sally and I had the chance to go out on a date. It was like a date because we went out to dinner (yummy greek food mmm...) and then we went and saw a play together. Avenue Q. A funny spoof on Sesame street that includes puppets and adult themes. It was very funny. And as I said the food was delicious. But the chance to just hang out and talk and make the time we spent special by planning and dressing up and eating good food made it so cool. It was like a date. It's almost Valentine's day and I think sometimes we get so focused on that holiday as being a romantic holiday...but when was the last time you really took the time to nurture and cherish a friendship you hold dear, and do it in a big way-really put your heart into it? If you don't practice going on girlfriend dates, I recommend you start. Your romantic/life partner is important, and it's important to nourish that relationship, but it can also be very valuable to intentionally and purposefully nurture your friendships as well.
If you do, I'd love to hear about what you end up doing and with whom you choose to do it.
xoxo

I've loved reading all of your posts on here. I agree nothing is better than having a girl date. I think I am due for one of those.
